PROMOTION
RULES:
Primary I to V
Generally no detention in classes I & II. If a child
gets ‘E" grade in 3 subjects or more in classes III
onwards, he can be detained in the same class with the
consent of the parent. In case the parent does not
give his consent, the student will be promoted to the
next class. However, if the student again gets ‘E’
grade in 3 subjects or more in next class, Principal
can detain the child in the same class.
The earlier provision, that the child who gets ‘E’
grade in any subjects in class V will be given an
opportunity to improve upon if he/she gets ‘D’ even in
one subject will be promoted to class VI, will
continue.
Class VI TO IX and XI
1. Each student would need to pass the continuous and
comprehensive evaluation as well as the annual
examination separately with at last 33% marks. Thus
each child should obtain not less than 20 marks out of
60 in each subject in the continuous and comprehensive
assessment from class VI onwards and 13 marks out of
40 in annual examination for being promoted to the
next class.
2. In case IX and XI if a candidate secures the marks
above 25 and below 33(out of 100) in one or two
subjects in the Session Ending Examination, he will be
eligible to take the Supplementary Examination in
those subjects. The candidates will be promoted to the
next higher class only if secures 33% marks in each of
these subjects in the supplementary examination.
Note: A student who fails twice in the same
class shall not be allowed to continue his studies in
any Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Attendance: A pupil may not be allowed to sit
in the session – Ending examination if he has not put
in a minimum of 75% of the total attendance of the
academic session including the attendance put in the
previous school, if the student has been admitted on
transfer, the Principal is authorized to condone
shortage in attendance upto 15% in special
circumstances requiring this concession, e.g. illness
etc. A pupil who has not put in atleast 60% of the
attendance shall be detained in the same class.
